No surprise here really, when it comes to good beer, it’s all about the water.
Fact. Beer and clean water are two of my passions in life. But it wasn’t until I became Riverkeeper that I started making the connection between things like clean water and good beer, or for that matter, clean water and good coffee.
So you can imagine my excitement when I stumbled across this great NPR piece on the connection between water and beer. ”Water is an essential part of beer. But its flavor is only part of the equation. Water also supports yeast, which then eats sugar and turns it into alcohol. Those are two reasons why a town’s water supply has long determined what the local beer tastes like.”
