Next week, Spokane will host the International Fly Fishing Fair. Here are two related events you DO NOT want to miss.
Hopefully your calendar is already marked, but in case not, Spokane will host the 2012 International Fly Fishing Fair, a jam-packed conference featuring fly tying and fly casting demostrations, programs, raffles, a film festival and many tying, casting, on the water and non-angling workshops. The event, held July 12th to July 14th, will take place at the Spokane Convention Center.
Spokane Riverkeeper is the official non-profit partner of the Fair, meaning we’ll have a great opportunity to showcase our work and our mission of a fishable Spokane River. Aside from the exposure, which is really invaluable, our connection to the Fair means we get to benefit directly from the Fly Fishing Film Festival which will take place on Thursday, July 12th at the Bing Crosby Theater. We will receive a portion of the proceeds from each of the two showings on the 12th. That’s right, you have two opportunities to take in all of the great fly fishing films that will be featured during the festival – showings at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.
Festival tickets can be purchased in advance through the Online Box Office and are also available at the following local fly shops: Westslope Fly Shop, Silverbow, Swede’s Fly Shop, Castaway Fly Shop, and Northwest Outfitters.
But wait, there’s more.
Between showings, Trout Unlimited is hosting a rooftop party in downtown Spokane. ”For the Love of Redbands” is a party and fundraiser sponsored by Dry Fly Distilling, No-Li Brewing, Latah Creek Winery, Westslope Fly Shop and other local businesses in support of Trout Unlimited’s work to protect the Spokane River’s native trout. Tickets are $10 and available at redbands.eventbrite.com See more about the event on Facebook - http://on.fb.me/Mt4Xgz.
