While in Chicago I was fortunate enough to see a documentary titled Waterlife. Waterlife follows the epic cascade of the Great Lakes from Lake Superior to the Atlantic Ocean, telling the story of the last huge supply of fresh water on Earth. Filled with fascinating characters and stunning imagery, Waterlife is a cinematic poem about the beauty of water and the dangers of taking it for granted. Narrated by Gord Downie, lead vocalist of The Tragically Hip and Waterkeeper’s Trustee of Lake Ontario.

 

What I liked most about this documentary at the time was the unique use of computer graphics and stunning close up photography.  That was before I got home and started researching the film.  That’s when I found the documentary’s website. This interactive website features an endless supply of photos, video clips, figures, stats, narrative, etc that allows the user to geek out on water quality and water issues like you’ve never before thought possible.  Enjoy the website, and the documentary trailer is below:
