Turning Points

Our crack of spring E-Newsletter is out and ready to read, and shared, and widely commented upon.

Eleven Days. That’s the time it took between CFJ attorney Rick Eichstaedt’s appearance before the Spokane County Planning Commission in mid-March to the rain-soaked press conference at which county officials announced they were not going to bring a controversial, $190 million-plus proposal for a new jail to county voters this year. It’s not the first time that the Center, working with its community clients, has intervened in ways that protected the public interest in open government and in government accountability. That’s the keynote article in our early spring edition of Justice Calling, the Center’s electronic newsletter.

There’s lots more to read about, including some recent victories and accolades for our Spokane Riverkeeper program, some shoe-leather reporting on county government, reflections on the tragedy in Japan, and, just because we can, basketball with our favorite bracketologist, Mary Harvill.
