Shopping for Justice

The Kizuri fair trade store pitches in to help support the Center for Justice and other good causes this month.

As the Kizuri fair trade store in the Community Building celebrated its first anniversary, orchestrator Kim Harmson shared a modest announcement with the store’s customers. Having joined the 1% for Main Market campaign (whereby the store devoted 1% of each purchase during the first week of October to support the emerging Main Market Co-op just across the street on West Main Avenue) Kim and Kizuri asked themselves, why stop there?

“We got to thinking what a great idea this was, and so we decided to continue throughout Fair Trade month [October] by donating 1% to some other great non profit neighbors:

Besari Health Clinic in Nepal - Oct 5 – 11
KYRS Thin Air Radio - Oct 12 – 18
Second Harvest Food Bank – Oct 19 – 25
Center for Justice – Oct 26 – Nov 1

For those of you who haven’t visited Kizuri, it’s a beautiful store located in the Community The Kizuri Fair Trade store in the Community Building.Building’s lobby, just downstairs from the Center for Justice at 35 W. Main. It’s devoted to the highest principles of fair trade and the literal arts of global cultural connectivity. Anytime of year is a good time to shop there but if you happen to think of Kizuri and the Center the last week of this month, a penny on the dollar of what you spend will come our way.
