Morons

As in:

While Beatrix was forming opinions on Hawaiian beer and luau offerings on Waikiki, Lane Duncans was about to make Spokane pay, again, for its narrow-minded insistence not to pay city council members a full-time salary, or provide them any staff.

It had been a quid pro quo behind Duncans’s latest ballot initiative: if voters would mandate that council members be paid a full-time wage, with benefits, then he would agree to give up his law practice while he served on the council. This actually struck almost everybody in the local legal community and court system as one helluva good deal, for them. But the measure still failed by 283 votes.

This recount-solidified result had prompted the latest Duncanism, one that was faithfully reported, and accordingly dwelled upon, by the Spokesman-Review and its gaggle of columnists: “Spokane voters are pennywise morons. Except in my district.”

Duncans chided them that he had been misquoted in that they’d removed the “f” bomb (gerund version) before the word “morons.”
