Owing to other commitments that will render the author a Zombie for the rest of the month, at least, Word of the Day will be on Winter break until Commonwealth Day, March 9th. While I hide in this intermission, I must note that I didn’t anticipate the howls of protest at poor Ben’s fate in the back of “The Bluefin.” But there’s not much I can do about some of these nasty characters that flock into Charisse’s orbit, with money, and scampi, and drugs and guns. Florida is not Quaker country, after all. And, no, I can’t really offer Ben swimming lessons between now and then.
